and pay installation fee to him directly.
Paul will also measure for you for a nominal fee, if you wish.

Place your order using the
exact width x height dimensions you measured per the "Measuring" instructions.

Measure for "inside" mount (IB) or "outside" mount (OB).

Note: Always round down to nearest 1/8" and take no allowances...the factory will do that for you!

Please note width x height along with quantities, types of blinds, and color when ordering.

Extra items: you may need extension brackets (4" or 6"), hold down brackets (for doors, etc.), and other items. Please request...no charge for necessary mounting accessories.

Go to "ORDER FORM" and list info. Then "submit" your order.

More measuring tips:

Before you measure . . .

Look at your window and decide whether you want to mount the treatment inside the window recess or outside the window on the wall or molding. Although an inside mount is usually preferred, an outside mount can make a window appear larger or hide an unattractive window.

Note: All measurements should be to the nearest 1/8". For inside mount verticals, use the shortest height.

MINI BLINDS, WOOD BLINDS, PLEATED SHADES AND CELLULAR SHADES

Inside or Outside Mount?

Inside mount:  measure in three places for both width and height, then take the smallest measurement.
Measure left to right for width from trim next window track to opposite side same spot.
For height measure from top of sill to inside top of window casing.
Again, make no allowances.

Note: When measuring ignore any 1/16" increment, ie 3/16", 5/16",
etc. by rounding down to the nearest 1/8" (1/8", 1/4" in examples shown).

Note: DO NOT take any deductions from your width x height dimensions.
Place your order using the
exact width x height dimensions you measured per the "Measuring" instructions.

In addition to your personal preference, consider that for an inside mount, your casing must have a minimum depth of 1 1/2" for 1" blinds, and 2 1/2" for 2" blinds if you want the blind (wood, mini, etc.) flush or slightly recessed from the opening. However, you can generally mount inside with only 1/2" depth for a 1" slat unit and only 1/2" depth for a 2" slat unit if you mount the end-mount brackets for blinds by lining up the side mount holes in the mounting bracket with the trim next to the front window track and screwing the mounting screws into the trim or the crack between the trim and the track. Pre-drill holes if necessary to prevent cracking of trim. Blinds are installed using "end-mount" brackets which are held in place with screws which screw directly into the inside trim next to the track ( in the case of a double-hung window) and have mounting holes in top, rear, and side.

To mount a shade (pleated, honeycomb, silhouette) "inside" the window frame simply attach the rear mounted brackets to the headrail and line up the rear of the headrail to where you want the unit mounted and draw a line on the window frame corresponding to the rear of bracket so you'll know where to place the bracket for marking hole positions for drilling. Shades are installed using brackets which snap on or are held securely to the headrail with various brackets which are mounted 2"-3" in from either side. Mounting bracket holes are in rear and top.

Inside Mount (recessed)

Measure the exact inside width and length of the window opening between jams. As some windows may not be a perfect square, take measurement in three locations for both length and width. Record the shortest width dimension and the longest length do not take any deductions for clearance. Refer to info above (under "Inside or Outside Mount?") also.

Note: DO NOT take any deductions from your width x height dimensions.
Place your order using the
exact width x height dimensions you measured per the "Measuring" instructions.

Outside Mount

Outside mount: measure to cover the area desired and add 1" to 3" to width depending on privacy, etc. you desire.

Used for shallow window casings, door mounts and custom looks. Measure the exact outside width and length from molding to molding. To overlap the window (your choice), we recommend that you add 3" to your width and length measurements. No allowances will be made at the factory (for outside mounts).

Doors

For "doors" measure width to cover glass and overlap as far as door handle and door lock, if applicable, will allow; measure length/height of opening to cover glass and add space to allow for headrail and hold-down brackets...which means: add 5" for 2" unit headrails and hold-down brackets. Add 3" for 1" headrail units.

Also, note where "door hinges" are (either left or right) and we'll have the tilt and lift controls installed on that side of the unit to prevent them from being caught in the door swing, if you wish.

Note: DO NOT take any deductions from your width x height dimensions.
Place your order using the
exact width x height dimensions you measured per the "Measuring" instructions.

VERTICAL BLINDS

Inside Mount

For verticals to be installed inside an area (jamb to jamb in window or door, wall to wall in a room) give exact inside width measurements, and top to bottom measurements of the area to be covered. Measure your windows carefully with a wooden ruler or steel tape. DO NO USE A CLOTH TAPE MEASURE.

Outside Mount

Measure the exact width and length of the area to be covered. When measuring to cover a window or door, add at least 6" to the opening width for overlap (3" on each side), and 3" to the opening height (length measurement) for mounting track above window. No allowances will be made by the factory for outside mount verticals. They will be made to your exact width and length measurements, mark your measurements "OUTSIDE MOUNT".

Note: DO NOT take any deductions from your width x height dimensions.
Place your order using the
exact width x height dimensions you measured per the "Measuring" instructions.

SHUTTERS

Measuring Instructions for Outside Mount

Note: All measurements should be to the nearest 1/8".

Note: When measuring ignore any 1/16" increment, ie 3/16", 5/16",
etc. by rounding down to the nearest 1/8" (1/8", 1/4" in examples shown).

Option 1:

A) Measure the width in 3 places. Add 1 5/8" to the largest dimension and order this width size.

B) Measure the inside height in 3 places. Add 1 5/8" to the largest dimension and order this height size.

Note: The additional 1 5/8" must be added to both dimensions to allow for mounting of frame.

Option 2:

A) Measure the width in 3 places from the outer edge of molding. Order the largest width dimension.

B) Measure the height in 3 places from the outer edge of molding. Order the largest height dimension.

Note: The size ordered includes the frame.

Option 3:

A) Measure the width in 3 places. Add 2 1/8" to the largest dimension and order this width size.

B) Measure the height in 3 places from the outer edge of molding. Add 2 1/8" to the largest dimension and order this height size.

Note: The additional 2 1/8" must be added to both dimensions so the frame will clear the molding on all sides. Filler strip kit will be needed to clear louvers.

Mount on flat wall surface or on flat portion of window trim. When mounting beyond window trim, filler strip kit will be required for louver clearance since the frame is only 1 1/4" deep. The filler strip kit will provide an additional 11/16" projection from mounting surface. If the framed shutter set width or height is greater than 48", two kits will be required.

NOTE: A depth of 1 3/4"" is needed for an inside mount to be installed flush with the surrounding wall. This depth is not necessary if the shutter is to protrude slightly from the window opening.

A) Measure the width in 3 places and order the smallest width dimension

B) Measure the inside height in 3 places and order the smallest height dimension

C) Light stops will be shipped for optional use

D) Reminder: Do not take any allowances. The manufacturer will make all allowances for the 1 5/8" deluxe hanging strips when manufacturing your shutter set. All measurement should be to the nearest 1/8"
